The Air Not There - Poem

This is a poem that I wrote a few years ago. I love revisiting it. I feel it has a lot of strong emotion coming with it. It can really pack a punch. Everyone in this world feels hurt at some point in their lives. It is inevitable. But it is what makes the good times all the better. This poem is about pain. Pain dealt at the hand of a loved one. It is that ever-blinding pain that you just feel you need to run from. That is what I think is so magical about sad poems. They are relatable to matter who you are. You have experienced pain and you can feel it through the words whether or not yu have experienced that kind of pain before. So without me continually rambling ;) here is...

The Air Not There
Kelley Lee

How do you run from what's within
When your whole body feels caved in
Sitting outside just to feel the rain
Hoping, praying it will wash away the pain

No one and everyone has felt this hurt
I am a battered women who hasn't been shook
I want to feel anything but the nothing on the in
Seeking for solutions, contemplating sin

My lungs can't fill with air not there
Just please, please tell me where
you stored the pieces of my broken puzzle
Leaving me empty, can't move a muscle

I cannot bare it anymore, all that's burning inside
My blood is on boil, I can't stop its rise
Live broken or to die alive
It will all be gone before sunrise

Goodbye to the shadow at my side
Hello to the killer in my eyes
So long my never resting mind
Maybe we'll meet again sometime

Let me know what you think! I love to hear your opinions. Let me know if you could feel the emotion pouring out or you thought it was too overdone.

Be who you are,
Love who you're with,
Share with family
'Cause life is a gift.
